Classic Rubik’s cube comes in colors. But there are other cubes with pictures on them. There is also a type of cube that has shapes in it on the surface. Shapes help the solver to solve the puzzle even in the dark. This is also good for blind people who want to solve rubik’s for entertainment. This type of puzzle trains the hand-mind coordination as well.

You can make your own Metal Rubik’s Cube with your own choice of shapes and designs. Here’s what you’ll need.

• A Rubiks’s Cube
• 54 Uniquely Shaped Metal or Plastic Tabs
• A Razor Blade of your choice
• 2 Part Epoxy for use with plastic/metals
• Toothpicks or like for mixing/applying epoxy
• Duct Tape
• Isopropyl Alcohol
• Paper Towel(s)

You must have a Rubik’s cube to start with this project. Next, collect 54 pieces of metal tabs for your cube. Round or squared, any design or pattern may do depending on your choice. Make sure that these metal tabs are smaller than each square surface of the cube.

Next, peel off the colored stickers of the Rubik’s cube. Peel them off and clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove the leftover adhesive.

Etch the surface of the cube with a blade and also the back side of the metal tabs for epoxy. Clean the cube and the metal tabs with alcohol or soap water. Let them completely dry. Carefully stick the tabs on the cube and let it dry.
