Learn More about Butt Welding
Working on metal can be tough for starters so here is a guide for you if you want to learn more about Butt Welding.
Zigzag motion is advisable to use when working on a metal thinner than 2mm. This technique prevents the sheet from blowing holes. This results to a neat looking weld. Zigzag with no curves are useful for thicker metals or welding with a straight line. You just have to make sure that heat is well distributed on both metal sheets.
Tack welding is most useful especially if you try to weld two sheets of metal together. If you weld two metal aligned chances are you’ll end up welding across a gap because one of the sheets would move. Making tack welds first would prevent the metal sheets form moving, thus you can proceed with the welding process without fearing that any of the sheets would move.
It is advisable to take note of the appropriate power settings to use for different welds on metal of different thickness. You must also get the proper penetration so that the edges of the metal would be hard to discern after the weld.
Before doing butt welding, overlap welding can be a good practice in joining metal sheets. Overlap welding is much easier to do compare to butt welding.
